Sport Fishing in the Danube Delta – Boat Transfer to Fishing Location

In the waters of the Reserve area live numerous fish species from carp and crucian carp, to catfish and pike. Fishing enthusiasts can try their luck in renting a boat with a guide, so that the chances of catching fish increase.

Where can you fish in the Danube Delta

Many fishermen love to fish in the delta, but that doesn't mean everyone can cast their line at random. There are areas well delimited by the Danube Delta Biosphere Reserve Administration in this area that all fishermen (amateur and professional) must take into account. Of the over 30 zones, the best places for fishing are:

Uzlina Lake

You can reach it quickly if you are staying in Uzlina village, or about an hour from Murighiol. It is a lake recognized for pike fishing. Probe the shore from Brânză canal (local name) and the entrance to Isac lake. For better orientation, the left shore from the entrance to Isac lake, up to the first canal.

Chiril Lake

It is said in the area that if you don't catch pike on Isac, you will surely have success on Chiril lake. The area with rafts and reed beds. Other recommendations: the small bays on the right side of the shore, as you enter the lake and the center of the lake.

Isăcel Lake

It is not really recommended as a pike fishing area. Compared to the bigger brother (Isac), in this lake there is much more vegetation, being abundant in willows and water lilies. You can easily reach this lake by boat.

Isac Lake (Isacov)

One of the most "beaten" pike fishing areas. Easy to reach. Anyone from the Murighiol, Mahmudia, Uzlina, Dunavăț area takes you to this lake. You start from Murighiol, go on the Old Danube to Uzlina, then on the canal that leads to Uzlina lake and you reach Isac. Area frequently visited by fishermen. It is located on the right side and on the left side at half the axis that connects the entrance to the lake from Uzlina and the exit to Chiril. Here marlins are often caught. The most frequent attacks are with small spoon (silver-plated) of 9g and nickel-plated atom of 19g. Beautiful perch specimens are also caught in schools. Also try near the exit to Chiril, on the left side, where it is quieter. There you can have more success.

The confluence between Uzlina lake and Isac lake a good place for perch, but also for pike.

Sport fishing permit in the Danube Delta

Those who come here for fishing need a fishing permit, as the lakes are located in a protected natural area of the Danube Delta Biosphere Reserve

Equipment

You should know that for a fishing trip in the Danube Delta you need equipment that includes long pants and long-sleeved shirts – not just against mosquitoes. The air can be very cold in the early morning hours, and the sun very strong at noon. Also, don't forget to bring a sun hat: a cap is not suitable for fishing in the delta. It would be advisable to also pack a winter hat if you get cold easily (depends on what season you choose to leave), sunglasses and definitely a raincoat.

The equipment for Sport Fishing in the Danube Delta must include rods and reels, sufficient lines and lures (wobblers, twisters, spoons, etc.) Even though there is a lot of fishing in the Danube Delta, you will not find shops equipped with fishing tools, so you will have to leave prepared with everything you need from home or buy them from Tulcea.

However, the tools that should not be missing from the kit (for pike fishing) are the spoons. A tip from connoisseurs: all spoons must have red fins mounted on the anchor. So use the small spoon of 11g, the golden spinner of 13, the silver versus of 10g, the silver Irish and the nickel-plated atom of 19g.
